The Medicine River Wildlife Centre works to rehabilitate and release injured and orphaned wild animals from across Alberta. MRWC currently treats over 1200 animals annually. One very important facet of the mandate of MWRC is public education. The centre conducts numerous public education programs in our education facility, speaks to visitors to the centre, and presents informative programs in schools and nearby communities. |

The Bavarian Schuhplattlers of Edmonton
Formed in 1971 by three couples who wanted to preserve the culture and traditions of their Heimat in Bavaria. Their early performances were mainly in the Edmonton Hofbräuhaus. The costumes worn by these members were actually hand-sewn by the Mädels; later, the group imported their Tracht from the Chiemgau area of Bavaria. |

The Royal Canadian Legion
The Legion was founded in November, 1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was incorporated by special Act of Parliament, Charter issued in July 1926. The principal objectives of the Legion were to provide a strong voice for World War I veterans and advise the government on veterans' issues. These goals were maintained in the years leading up to 1939. During World War II, the Legion increased efforts to help veterans and returned service members, provided education support and in-theatre comfort for serving personal at home and abroad. |
